Evelyn Donnelly is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY, currently an Artist-in-Residence at PioneerWorks. Her work examines performance and social exchanges in institutions, casual contexts, and unauthorized spaces. Her talks are instances of repetition and spontaneous word play encouraging physical and verbal engagement with the audience.  Spanning media, works use confusion, absurdity, idealism, and play to explore how we represent our bodies.

Her objects, videos, and performances have been featured internationally including: Center for Curatorial Studies Hessel Museum, New Museum, Hammer Museum, Kampnagel (Hamburg, Germany), The Kitchen, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions,  M HKA (Antwerp), The Chocolate Factory, Theatre L’Usine (Geneva), and Kling&Bang (Reykjavik). Additionally, she acts as an agent of The Bureau for the Future of Choreography since its inception in 2011.

Honors and Awards include: Dinning & Main Fellowship and Singleton Fellowship Banff Center for the Arts (Canada); LMCC Process Space; John M. Hartigan Endowed Fellowship Anderson Ranch; AIR Fellowship Art Students’ League of New York: Vytlacil; Clowes Fellowship Vermont Studio Center; Samband Íslenskra Myndlistarmanna (Reykjavik). She holds a BA from Bard College and a MFA from University of California, San Diego.
